Spain, 1997 onwards

I'm currently working as a technical writer on contract to Hewlett-Packard (HP) near Barcelona, Spain. This branch of HP designs the large-format Designjet printers.

I write technical and end-user documentation for printers and printer drivers, using Epic Editor to create XML documents. In the past, I used Adobe FrameMaker or Microsoft Word to create traditional printed documents, a text editor to create HTML files, and RoboHELP and Microsoft Word to create Windows Help files. I still use FrameMaker and Word occasionally for some projects.

We have graphic artists to create original graphics, but I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to modify existing graphics when necessary.

I'm frequently asked to edit documents and software text strings written by HP employees.

I've occasionally written small programs in Python, Delphi, Perl, and JavaScript to support our documentation activities.
